Human Kindness
by: Alchemey
date: November 5, 2000
Want to know what lifes about? Yeah, me too, but in the mean time, lets stick with human relationships. Kindness goes a long way. It really does. Its not about getting back for what you do, its about what you do. You will always remember nice things people do for you, but you will forget what youve done nice to people. Theyll remember and you could possibly change their life. There is also a good chance you will remember every little bad thing youve done to any person. Keep that in mind when your conscience sets in. If it says, yeah this is bad, then stop what youre doing. And say sorry. Sometimes thats all I expect from people and they dont say it. Be courteous to everyone. You know that dorky girl in your chemistry class? Well, she has feelings too. Put yourself in her place. Would you honestly want to be picked on at all ever? Probably not. So think before you act. Im not saying Ive never picked on someone, but I apologized for it because I have been picked on and it hurts more than youd know. I remember about every bad thing any person has ever done to me. I am trying so hard to forget. The littlest things can make an impact on another persons life, remember that. I am in no way an all-wise all-knowing person, but I think I know a lot more about the human mind at my age than I should. I only speak from personal experience. Want to make life better or help a little? Be nice. It goes a long way...

Manic Depression
by: ozgod
date: November 5, 2000
Manic depression is a serious illness --- genetic disorder actually --- which is something no one should have to suffer. I know from personal experience. Having manic depression is like living in hell, and theres no way out and everyday you just get deeper and deeper into this bottomless pit of agony, pain, frustration, anger, and of course, depression. Manic depression is a genetic disorder which blocks the brain chemical serotonin, which keeps the brain in a homeostatic level, from being produced. The end result of this blockage/unproductiveness is what is known as manic depression. The only cure for manic depression are prescription psycho reactive drugs (like Prozac and Zoloft (mine!)). Recently, (last week actually), I was put into a psyche ward for severe manic depression and suicidal ideation --- not only did I have manic depression, but my family is going through a lot right now, and that added with my disorder --- well, I had no will to live. I hadnt had for a loooong time. I had (now-ex)friend tells his parents, and they contacted the authorities, and lickety split I was in psyche ward getting analyzed. Im still a little traumatized, but Im better. Im happier. I got the help I needed (finally) What I learned, whether youre manic depressive or not, is that you should NEVER EVER hide something that bothers you --- find someone who has a similar experience and talk to them with it because you wont be only helping yourself, but youll also be helping them. If you are, or know of anyone who suffers from manic depression, seek/get help for them or yourself.

Way to go, Ozgod. Im glad you have the strength to confront this. When you say the friend called the authorities and that this person is now an ex-friend, well I hope you realize that the friend did the right thing. Your friend did that because they care about you and want you to get better. So keep that in mind. The person tried to save your life and wants you to be happy.

Canadians
by: sarah14
date: November 3, 2000
I wrote this article in the Advice section because it is some advice from me to the Student Center. First of all, you guys dont have a lot of things on your site that deal with Canada. That is one of the reasons I dont come here as often as I used to. Anyhow, you just put in that thing Nothing but Teens, Nothing but Net for the States, but what about Canada?! Everybody seems to forget about Canada. When I won the discman off of your auctions a while ago, I had to fill out a mailing form. And of course it asked for my name and address, but it also asked for my State and Zip code. Now what with me living in Canada and all, I couldnt fill the form out because Canada has Provinces instead of States, and Postal codes instead of Zip codes. I ended up just emailing my address to SCN, but thats not the point. The point is they should have asked for State OR Province, and Zip OR Postal code. Im not just picking on the Student Center or anything, its alot of other sites, too. Although some do have the choice of Canadian or American or whatever, lots of sites dont. I want that to be changed. If ANYONE agrees with me then go to my webpage at http://homepages.studentcenter.org/canada/main.html and sign my guest book with your ideas and comments. Thanks. Bye.

Lifes Little Lessons
by: Alchemey
date: November 1, 2000
Life is long and believe it or not, youre going to learn the whole time. Whether it be about dating, people, or school, you will be learing all the time. People can give you all the lessons theyve learned but you really have to learn the lessons by yourself. There are some things you should consider though: Life is long but its short too. Do what you want, you only get one chance. People will always be butts, but some of them think you are too, it happens. Watch your back, especially with people you dont know very well or trust. Live life like you wont be alive tomorrow. You have to earn success. If its given to someone, they will have trouble later in life. Stop focusing on problems; focus on solutions. And one last thing: HAVE FUN! or whats the point?

Yea that is really good advice, but also bad advice. Cause what about those people who take peoples advice way too seriously, then you know they would be saying all the time they are going to die tommorow, and then not go to school and use an excuse like if im gonna die tommorow, then whats the point of school?

GREAT ADVICE!!!i know and feel the exact same way you do. all you hafta do is think to yourself, how will it feel if i die and didnt do anything special or big with my life? it would really suck if you died and tried nothing, did nothing, said nothing... and was basically a nothing!
